Wakatake Matcha Supreme is the pinnacle of Japanese green teas. Blessed by mineral-rich soil, the first flush tea cultivated in this region is truly world-class.
Surrounded by volcanic mountains and grown at an altitude of 1300ft, the tea harvest consists of naturally fermented mountain soil with less factory-made fertilizers.
The tea is shaded from direct sunlight for about 4 weeks before harvest which increases the chlorophll and L-thenine contents contributing to a smooth and rich vibrant green colour.
The fine art of producing matcha is famously labour intensive. This includes stone milling for up to an hour to grind 30 grams of this tea. However, all the hard work results in delivering all the qualities required for perfect matcha.
An incredibly intense, deep umami flavour and mouth melting softness is the result.
