Tea Details

Description

Sourced from the historic Selimbong Tea Estate in Darjeeling, this 2nd Flush tea is celebrated for its rich, muscatel character and complex flavour. Nestled in the picturesque Kalimpong district, Selimbong’s tea bushes grow at elevations ranging from 3,000 to 5,000 feet, where the warmer summer temperatures and abundant rainfall contribute to the tea’s full-bodied character.

Provenance & Production
Established in 1866, Selimbong Tea Estate is known for its organic and biodynamic farming practices that enhance the natural flavour of its teas. The estate’s prime location and commitment to sustainable cultivation result in teas that reflect the richness of the terroir. During the 2nd Flush, only the mature leaves are carefully hand-plucked, ensuring that the leaves have absorbed the summer sun to develop a robust and aromatic profile. The leaves are then skillfully withered, rolled, and oxidized to perfection, bringing out the tea’s signature muscatel flavour.

Brewing Method

  • Use 2g of tea per 180ml of water.

  • Water temperature: 90-95°C (194-203°F).

  • Steep for 4-5 minutes to extract the rich flavours.

  • Best enjoyed plain or with a splash of milk to enhance its complexity.

Tasting Notes
Selimbong 2nd Flush delivers a deep amber infusion with bold, muscatel notes reminiscent of ripe grapes. The flavor is rich and full-bodied, with hints of honey, stone fruits, and a pleasant woody undertone. A mild astringency balances the sweetness, leaving a smooth and satisfying finish.

Why Choose Selimbong 2nd Flush Tea?
Selimbong Tea Estate’s dedication to organic farming and careful processing ensures that each batch of tea maintains the highest quality. Its 2nd Flush teas are prized for their muscatel complexity and depth, making them a favourite among tea enthusiasts.
