Tea Details

Description

Sourced from the renowned Castleton Tea Estate in Darjeeling, this 1st Flush tea captures the essence of spring with its vibrant floral aroma and crisp, muscatel character. Grown at high altitudes, where cool mountain air slows leaf growth, the tea develops a unique complexity.

Provenance & Production
Castleton Tea Estate, established in 1885 and located in Kurseong, Darjeeling, produces world-class Darjeeling teas. The estate’s microclimate enhances the slow development of tea leaves, enriching their essential oils and imparting the signature muscatel flavor. During the 1st Flush, only the youngest shoots are plucked by hand, ensuring freshness. The leaves are then carefully withered, lightly rolled, and minimally oxidized to maintain their bright, floral profile.

Brewing Method

  • Use 2g of tea per 180ml of water.

  • Water temperature: 85-90°C (185-194°F).

  • Steep for 3-4 minutes to release the delicate floral notes.

  • Best enjoyed plain to appreciate its complexity.

Tasting Notes
This 1st Flush offers a pale golden infusion with a lively floral bouquet, accented by notes of green muscat grapes and a hint of citrus. The cup is light, crisp, and slightly astringent, leaving a clean, refreshing finish that lingers on the palate.
